The Angels closed out their first homestand of the season by defeating the Cleveland
Guardians 6-2. The victory on Sunday, in front of 41,480 fans, gave the Angels the weekend
series as they won two of the three games played in Anaheim.
Cleveland jumped out to the early lead 1-0 in the first inning, but the Angels didn’t wait
long to put themselves back into the game in the second inning.
Looking about as hot as any player on the roster, Logan O’Hoppe hit a game tying homer,
depositing the blast over the center field wall. With the knock, Logan became the first
Angel catcher to hit a homerun in four consecutive games. On the heels of that dinger,
Kyren Paris singled and would come around to score when Tim Anderson singled, and the
Guardians committed a throwing error.
Angel pitcher Tyler Anderson blanked Cleveland for the next two innings but a solo shot
from Kyle Mazardo in the fourth inning evened the score 2-2 and brought an end to
Anderson’s day on the mound.

Guardian pitcher Luis Ortiz was looking good through the first five innings, but a 397-foot
shot from Jorge Soler would change all that. The Angels jumped back out into the lead 3-2.
The day on the hill for Ortiz ended abruptly.
A pair of sacrifice flies in the seventh inning from Luis Regifo and Soler added to the Angel
lead as they took a 5-2 lead ahead over the Guardians.
Giving the Angels some extra insurance, Paris deposited another Angel homer over the left
field wall, putting them ahead 6-2.

Kenly Jansen would come out to lock the game down for Los Angeles in the ninth
inning. Although he was not in line for the save, Kenly only needed eight pitches to close
the show.
Jansen recorded his 1,225 strike out as a relief pitcher and tied Lee Smith for fifth in
MLB history.
Ryan Zeferjahn picked up his first win of the year for the Angels.
Cleveland pitcher Luis Ortiz falls to 0-2.

Both teams have Monday off then It’s back on the road for The Angels as they will travel to
Tampa Bay to take on the Rays. The Guardians are heading back home as they get ready to
take on the Chicago White sox.
