In the city of Los Angeles, the Houston Astros are Public Enemy Number One. When Jose Altuve and the boys come to town, you can rest assured Dodger fans are going to let them have it with a chorus of Boo’s with each and every turn of the game. That’s something that will never change.

Of course, the best way to silence the L.A. critics is to put a good beating on their beloved Boys in Blue. And that’s exactly what the Astros did over the Fourth of July Weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, Houston broke out the brooms, handing the Dodgers their third and final loss of the series 5-1. All told after three games the Astros outscored the Dodgers 29-6. To put it bluntly, the Dodgers got their butts handed to them.

Opening on the mound for the Dodgers was Emmett Sheehan who put on a fine performance over his five innings pitched. Only giving up one run over 80 pitches, Sheehan left the game with the score tied up 1-1.

It was all downhill for the Dodgers after that. Back-to-back homers by Christian Walker, Yainer Diaz off reliever Tanner Scott jumped Houston into the lead for good. Putting a little icing on the cake, Altuve homered in the ninth and silenced the Dodger faithful.

The lone Dodger run came when rookie Dodger catcher Dalton Rushing doubled in Michael Conforto in the bottom of the second inning.

No excuses after the game from Dodger Skipper Dave Roberts though, “Certainly, you got to give credit to their staff, the way they pitched us, I thought they did a really nice job. They kept us at bay for three games. They just dominated us on the pitching side, and I thought conversely, offensively they had a great approach to all our pitchers. We got outplayed.

The Dodgers will have to put this one behind them quickly as they will hop on their jet and head to Wisconsin Sunday night as they prepare to take on the Brewers Monday afternoon.

“You got to wash this and pick up the pieces”’ said Roberts, “and hope we feel better once we get to Milwaukee.”
