Salgado and Crimber claim top spots in MVP race

The Florida Freedom come out of Anaheim as big victors. Thiago Salgado and John Crimber, first and second in the MVP race respectively, both had perfect weekends. Salgado rode Woah and Triton twice, while Crimber rode Rafiki, Love County and Mo Money.

The Freedom capped off their weekend with a perfect game against the heavyweight Austin Gamblers. This is only the second in franchise history the Freedom have pulled off this feat. They scored 434.25 points, the second most points ever scored in Camping World Team Series history.

The Freedom, Gamblers and Ridge Riders are tied for first place with a 15-5 record, but the Freedom’s league leading 4,729 points are the separator. They lead the Gamblers by over 400 points.

The highest scores of the weekend came from the Austin Gambler’s Jose Vitor Leme and the Carolina Cowboy’s Jess Lockwood. Both riders rode the same bull, Landman, for 89.25 points. Day 2 saw Lockwood come off the bench for the Cowboys, replacing Derek Kolbaba after he injured himself in the chute with July, the bull he successfully rode the day before. On day 3 Lockwood secured 89 more points after a successful ride on Love County, giving him MVP for both his performances.

Carolina’s Clay Guiton regained some momentum during his time in Anaheim. Guiton went from 10 straight scoring rides to 5 straight buckoffs coming into day 2 before he rode Minds Broke for a modest 79.75 points before regaining his form on day 3, where he rode Black Harbor for 88 points. The 19 year old currently stands 4th in the MVP race behind Texas’s Brady Fielder.
