ANAHIEM, CA. – The PBR Teams event at Honda Center in Anaheim, provided pure mayhem all weekend long. Outstanding bull riding from both the Nashville Stampede and Missouri Thunder left them deadlocked atop the PBR Teams standings. While both squads have identical 14-6 records, the Thunder hold the tiebreaker advantage with a league-leading 4,247.05 points. Beyond the top two teams, plenty of wild action unfolded during the final day of PBR Teams on the West Coast.
The Stampede went two – stepping over the Kansas City Outlaws with three qualified rides, delivering a dominant 263.70–88.30 defeat. Nashville’s Gustavo Luiz da Silva (Inocencia, Brazil) came out of the chute blazing hot in Game 1, riding Swisher with poise, control, and smoothness for an 88.15 score. Silva capped off a perfect 3-for-3 weekend to give his team an early jumpstart. That momentum proved contagious as fellow native Brazilians Rogerio Venancio and Daniel Feitosa both posted scores between 87 and 88 points. On the other side, Kansas City finally got on the board with an 88.30-point ride from Eric Henrique Domingos (Pérola, Brazil), but their losing woes continued as they left Anaheim 0-3 and sitting second-to-last in the standings.
Game 15 between the third-place Carolina Cowboys and the tenth-place New York Mavericks turned out to be the matchup of the day. Despite the Mavericks securing a 266.40–91.00 victory, the game provided fireworks that blew the roof off the Honda Center. Carolina’s Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil) rode Fury to perfection for a 91.00 score that electrified the crowd. The Mavericks’ Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, São Paulo, Brazil) matched that intensity with a grip-and-rip 89.05 ride aboard King Cobra. New York teammates Bob Mitchell (Steelville, MO.) and Marco Rizzo (Quitman, GA.) followed up with phenomenal rides scoring between 87.25 and 90.10, drawing standing ovations from the Orange County fans to close out the weekend.
