Let’s turn up the heat starting off with an Australia Women’s Final Heater as teen sensation of the Challenger Series Sierra Kerr delivered a dominant performance throughout the week all leading up to the final heat going up against fellow Aussie countrywoman and former world junior titleholder Isla Huppatz with a final score of 12.50 to 11.90. Kerr combined powerful rail surfing with smart wave selection, staying in control despite the challenging conditions. Her poise and consistency earned her the biggest win of her career and the U.S., Open crown. On the men’s side, Encinitas local Jake Marshall battled through a stacked field to reach the finals as he knocked off Champion Tour member and hometown kid Kanoa Igarashi in the grand finale, securing an 8.00 single wave score to capture his first U.S., Open title with an overall score of 14.77 in front of family and friends.
