The final men’s competition day at the 35th AIDA Freediving World Championshipconcluded with thrilling performances in the Constant Weight (CWT) discipline, the most iconic depth category in competitive freediving. After a weather-induced break, Limassol Bay once again offered ideal conditions for the world’s top male athletes to push their limits — with several dives well past the 100-meter mark, and the deepest reaching 130 meters.
What is Constant Weight (CWT)?
In the Constant Weight discipline, freedivers descend and ascend under their own power, using fins or a monofin, and are not allowed to pull on the rope or drop weights. It’s the most recognized and practiced discipline in the sport.
CWT Men’s Podium Results
- Alexey Molchanov (AIN) – 130m
- Alexander Vinogradov (AIN) – 117m
- Abdelatif Alouach (France) – 109m
- Omar Al Ghailani (Oman) – 109m (shared bronze)
Reigning world record holder Alexey Molchanov (CWT WR: 136m) delivered a strong 130m performance, opting for a conservative dive to secure the World Champion title once again. His depth was more than enough to earn him gold, despite an early turn.
Alexander Vinogradov followed with a personal best of 117m, earning silver — his best result of the championship. The bronze was shared between Abdelatif Alouach and Omar Al Ghailani, both reaching 109m with clean surfaces and excellent form.
