The Speedway Season opened on Saturday with a special Test Match between the
“Yanks” and the “Brits”
While it may be cold and wet in the UK, it ain’t here in California, so it isn’t hard to get
some of the World’s best Speedway riders to bask in 72-degree weather, heck, that’s
summer in England! So, it was no surprise that 7 of England’s best turned up to see how
we are faring compared to them. Dan Bewley, British Champ in 2022, 2023 and 2024,
brought 2021 British Champ Adam Ellis, Daniel Thompson, Tom Brennan, Leon Flint,
Jordan Jenkins and Ashton Boughen in support.

Team USA had last year’s AMA National Champion Broc Nicol, 2021 and 2023 AMA Champ
“Mad” Max Ruml, Multi-time State and National Champ Billy, with Luke Becker, who rides
for teams like the Leicester Lions in the British Premier League, as well as Ostrow in Poland
and Esbjerg in Denmark, Slater Lightcap, Austin “On The Throttle” Novratil, and Alex
Martin with AMA Long Track Champion Gino Manzares as team Captain.

Last year’s USA versus “The World” was a closer match, but this year not a lot was working
for team USA, and the match ended up in a 55-35 rout for Britain, with Adam Ellis winning
both the points score and the Rider of the Night Final for Great Britain.
Although the weather was nice and the track was groomed often, something wasn’t
working for us “Yanks” on Saturday, but come back for the full details in this month’s issue
