Raised around horses, Matias began riding as a child on his grandfather’s farm near Santiago, Chile. What started as a weekend activity quickly became a lifelong dedication to the sport. Early in his career, he sought to expand his knowledge by working and riding in some of Europe’s most competitive stables, in Belgium, Ireland, England, and Austria.

His results include multiple podium finishes in FEI competition, including top finishes such as 1st and 4th place in 1.50m classes with Emotion Des Truffiers at the CSIO5* in San Juan Capistrano, as well as strong Grand Prix placings at the CSI3* and CSI4* level in Thermal, California.
Throughout his career, Matias has demonstrated a strong ability to develop horses to the highest levels of the sport. He has successfully brought multiple horses up to the 1.50m level, combining careful horsemanship with a competitive mindset.
In 2013, Matias moved to the United States to access stronger competition and further opportunities for growth. Since then, he has been based in California, where he continues to compete actively while developing horses and working with clients through Buena Vista Farms.
His achievements have been recognized internationally, including rankings within the Longines FEI standings and consistent top placements in international competition.
“Representing Chile has always driven me. My focus is to keep improving, develop top horses to the highest level, and build toward championships like the Pan American Games, World Cup Finals, and the Olympic Games.”
With decades of experience, a deep understanding of horse development, and continued success in international competition, Matias remains focused on performing at the highest level of the sport while pursuing championship goals on behalf of Chile.
