Opening Ceremony set for 4:15 p.m. (PDT), Saturday, August 2 at Barnes Tennis Center

SAN DIEGO – (August 1, 2025) – Tournament officials have announced singles and doubles draws for the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships scheduled for Saturday, August 2 through Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Barnes Tennis Center, 4490 W. Point Loma Blvd., San Diego, CA, 92107.

Girls’ 18s top-seed Akasha Urhobo of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., received a first-round bye. She will play her second-round match at 10 a.m., this Monday against the winner of a first-round match between Lily Bazemore of Bayside, Calif., and Laila Nguyen of Houston. The 18-year-old Urhobo is currently ranked No. 429 in the WTA singles rankings after reaching a career-high No. 282 in March this year.

Julieta Pareja of Carlsbad, Calif., the No. 1 ranked junior in the world, is seeded second in the Girls’ 18 singles draw. The 16-year-old Pareja also received a first-round bye and is scheduled to play her opening match on Monday at noon against the winner of a first-round match between Shravani Chennamsetty of Weston, Fla., and Yuki Mae Madrio of Glenview, Ill.
  
Urhobo and fellow Floridian Victoria Osuigwe of Bradenton, Fla., are seeded No. 1 in the Girls’ 18s doubles competition. They received a first-round bye and will play their second-round match this Monday at 5 p.m.  Urhobo and Osuigwe will meet the winner of a first-round match between San Diego’s Margaret Hui and Mia Yin of Wildwood, Mo., versus Lani Brotman of Carrollton, Texas and Kate Craver of Coppell, Texas.

In the Girls’ 16s singles draw, top-seeded Carlota Moreno of Knoxville, Tenn., received a first-round bye. Moreno, the top-ranked player in the USTA 16 and under rankings, will play her second-round match on Sunday at 9:30 a.m., against the winner of Saturday’s first-round match between Mary Kate Monk of Atlanta and Priscilla Sirichantho of Woodbridge, Conn.

The top-seeded Girls’ 16s doubles team of Olivia Dartawan of Schenectady, N.Y., and Autumn Xu of Frisco, Texas, have a first-round bye. They will play their second-round match on Sunday at 2 p.m., against the winner of a first round match between Ariana Pazos-Delaguila of Norfolk, Va., and Helena Seiken of Chevy Chase, Md., versus Payton Seidle-Lubowitz of Weston, Fla., and Chloe Katz of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

Nearly 400 of the top junior tennis players in the country, aged 16 and 18 and under, will compete for the title of National Champion. In addition, wild cards for direct entry into the 2025 US Open will be awarded to the tournament’s top finishers.

The Girls’ 16s event will begin on Saturday, August 2 and conclude with the singles and doubles championships on Saturday, August 9. The Girls’ 18s tournament will get underway Sunday, August 3 and conclude with the singles and doubles championships on Sunday, August 10. Both divisions feature 192-player singles draws and 96-team doubles draws.

The Opening Ceremony for the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships will take place at Barnes Tennis Center on Saturday, August 2 at 4:15 p.m.

About USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships –  The USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships are the premiere hard court tennis tournaments for amateur and professional American girls aged 16 and 18 and under in the United States. Tournament participants, who represent nearly every state in the United States, have been endorsed by their respective USTA Section or have received USTA special exemptions based on their results in qualifying tournaments, junior rankings, or results on the WTA Tour or International Tennis Federation. This year marks the 107th Anniversary of this historic event.

The Girls 18s singles champion will receive a wild card for direct entry into the 2025 US Open at Flushing Meadows, New York. The 18s singles runner-up will receive a wild card into the qualifying draw of the US Open. The 18s Doubles Champions will receive a wild card into the main doubles draw of the US Open and the winner of the Girls 16s Championships will receive a wild card for direct entry into the Junior US Open.
