In the shadow of AlUla’s sandstone cliffs, hundreds of obstacle course racers faced searing heat, uneven terrain, and relentless challenges on Day One of Arabian Warrior 2025. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Mughaira Heritage Sports Village, the competition drew elite athletes and rising talent from across the globe—each pushing their limits in one of the Middle East’s most demanding OCR events.

The day opened with the KSA Schools Championship, where student teams from across the Kingdom tackled a 5km course built to professional standards. The route tested young racers’ speed, coordination, and grit. That intensity carried into the 5km Team Challenge, where groups representing gyms, corporations, and local clubs raced against the clock—carrying a log for the entire duration of the course to test their strength and cohesion.

By midday, the 5km Open Race welcomed a broad field of solo runners—some racing for personal bests, others for the sheer thrill of conquering AlUla’s formidable desert finish line.

Set amid AlUla’s iconic desert canyons and striking rock formations, the course tested not just endurance, but immersed participants in one of the world’s most breathtaking natural arenas. With every ascent, crawl, and sprint, racers moved through a landscape shaped by time—where sport, nature, and heritage collide. This experience reflects AlUla’s broader vision as a destination for transformational journeys, where every challenge becomes part of a story that is, quite literally, Forever Revitalizing.

Closing the first day, all eyes turned to the 20km Elite Course, where the region’s top male and female competitors faced an extended, punishing route in the afternoon heat. Obstacle density increased with every kilometre, demanding not only strength but also stamina and tactical precision. Among the standout performers was Bandar Saad Alshalawi, a seasoned OCR athlete known across the region for his controlled pacing and raw endurance.

“This is what Arabian Warrior is all about—grit, resilience, and the shared will to finish,” said Nic Cartwright, CEO of Arabian Warrior. “Every athlete today, elite or first-timer, took on a course designed to challenge both body and mind.”

Arabian Warrior is presented by AlUla Moments, a flagship initiative of the Royal Commission for AlUla, which continues to support events that celebrate both local heritage and international excellence.

Budget Saudi Arabia, the event’s official partner, played a high-impact role throughout the day with branded obstacles across the course, eye-catching participant kits, and a bustling booth featuring giveaways, protein shakes, and post-race ice baths. A live musician performing atop a Budget-branded vehicle added to the energy of the festival area, drawing in spectators and racers alike.
