The 2025 JM Eagle Championship presented by Plastrpo presented their upcoming
tournament at their new location, El Caballo Country Club. The Tarzana golf course and
country club will host the LPGA event taking place April 17th – April 20th.
144 players will compete across an 18-hole course for a share of a whopping 3.75 million
dollar purse. The JM Eagle Los Angeles Championship has been the pioneer for increasing
the purse in tournaments across LPGA. Since 2021 earnings in LPGA have risen over 90%
as CEO’s of JM Eagle and Plastro spouses have advocated for a better payout and provided
tournament accommodations for LPGA athletes.
“Walter heard about the golfers, you know, they have to make 150,000 to break even, you
know, with all the travel and all the things that they have to do. And some women don’t
make it, you know? And it’s hard for them to come out and compete. So Walter, you know,
said, hey, let’s help out with the accommodation for them to come to the championship,”
said Shirley Wang.
14 out of 18 of the top Rolex ranked- including Rolex’s #1 ranked Nelly Korda- players will
be among the 144 players competing. The latest commitments are semi-retired champion
Lexi Thompson and two-time major champion Brooke Henderson. 13x LPGA tour
champion Stacy Lewis and 2026 European Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist have
also committed.
CarolineCanales, a Calabasas resident has accepted a sponsor exemption and will make
her LPGA tour debut at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro.
“Well to be very direct, she wrote me a really nice letter. You know, she was so kind and
just a humble girl, very humble, uh and it was a full page, you know. A lot of time to write
that. And I got quite a few letters. I read through them many, many times and I had a really
hard time choosing to give exemption to but uh I don’t know, she just stands out to me,”
said Walter Wang.
Two-time defending champion, Hannah Green will be attempting to reign back the crown
with a shot at a 3rd victory. The Australian professional golfer will be in new territory,
having never competed on the Tarzana course.
On top of making sure LPGA athletes are taken care of throughout the tournament, CEO of
JM Eagle Walter and CEO of Plastrpo Shirley Wang have donated 1.5 million dollars to LA
Fire RELIEF AND Recovery including LAFD Foundation, California Fire Foundation, LAPD
Foundation, and LA Fire relief foundation. JM Eagle has pledged to donate another 5
million for rebuilding affected communities.
The tournament will provide complimentary admission for residents affected by Los
Angeles fires as well as Fire responders, children, military, and family members.
